Lake Cumberland & the Big South Fork
Part of the Cumberland Plateau, which Kentucky shares with Alabama and Tennessee, where it goes on as Lake Guntersville & Sand Mountain, Crossville & the Cumberland Plateau and the South Cumberland & Sequatchie Valley.
Lake Cumberland's fingers reach into the plateau toward the sandstone gorges of Big South Fork.
Oak and maple colour the lake coves, with hemlock remaining green in deep ravines.
