Montgomery, Prince George’s & the Potomac

Part of the Potomac gorge, which Maryland shares with the District of Columbia and Virginia, where it goes on as Rock Creek Park & the upper northwest, Georgetown, the Mall & the Potomac shore and Arlington, Fairfax & the Potomac shore.

The capital’s Maryland suburbs hold Potomac gorges, stream parks and Patuxent woods.

Maple, beech and sweetgum colour the stream parks, with oak and hickory on the wooded Potomac slopes; the lower valleys can keep colour later into autumn.
