Part of the Potomac gorge, which the District of Columbia shares with Maryland and Virginia, where it goes on as Montgomery, Prince George’s & the Potomac and Arlington, Fairfax & the Potomac shore.
The Potomac’s parks link Georgetown and the monumental core along the river.
Late October and November often bring colour to the Potomac’s oaks and maples and yellow to the city streets’ planted ginkgos.
