Part of the Thousand Islands, which New York shares with Ontario, where it goes on as the Frontenac Arch, Bon Echo & the Thousand Islands.
The St Lawrence and its islands link Watertown's hinterland with the northern river towns.
Maples colour the inland woods and river towns in early autumn, with oaks adding later reds and browns along the St Lawrence's rocky shores.
