The Uwharries & the Pee Dee
Old Uwharrie hills and Pee Dee lakes occupy the wooded middle of the Piedmont.
Oak and hickory bring russet and gold to the Uwharries, with red maple and sweetgum along the Pee Dee lakes, though color is generally later here than in the Blue Ridge.
