The St. Croix & east-central lake country
Part of the St. Croix riverway, which Minnesota shares with Wisconsin, where it goes on as the St. Croix valley.
The St. Croix’s wooded bluffs connect the eastern border to Mille Lacs and the inland lake woods.
Maple, oak and aspen colour the river bluffs and glacial hills.
