Part of the Driftless Area, which Illinois shares with Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin, where it goes on as Decorah & the upper Driftless, Dubuque & the Mississippi bluffs and Winona, Rochester & the Bluff Country, and in two more parts of Wisconsin.
Galena’s unglaciated hills and Mississippi overlooks make Illinois’s northwest corner distinct.
Oak, maple and hickory color steep bluffs and narrow valleys.
