The Shoals
Part of the Tennessee Valley, which Alabama shares with Mississippi and Tennessee, where it goes on as Tupelo & the northeast hills, Shiloh & the Tennessee River and Knoxville & the Ridge and Valley.
The Tennessee River bends past the Shoals before the wooded ridges rise south toward Bankhead.
Oak, hickory and sweetgum warm the river bluffs and wooded hollows.
